One of my goals this year is to try and learn to speak French. A major obstacle that I have with this is that, ideally, to learn any language you require a certain amount of immersion if you want to learn. I'm currently worried only about conversational French, and not the written language. I'm starting myself out by trying to absorb a vocabulary of about 1000 words.
I'm hoping to dedicate 70 minutes a week to building this vocabulary until the end of August 2013. After this, I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do next--only that I will not be sitting around reading a ton of grammar books. I'll likely try to make an effort to converse with my French co-workers, and listen to French tv shows and movies.
